F.A.Q.
These FAQs are not a replacement for the rules, it's just the answers to some questions I've received. Before you donate, please read the rules. How do I donate?
Just read the rules, then use the form on the donate page to let me know which episode you'd like to cap. If it's your first time donating I require a link of a cap example. Once you've been approved, I'll add you to the list of contributors. Then, you have a month to do the work and send me the link.
Where do I house the caps?
Create a special site for the episode and house the site, and the caps, on your domain. Please look at the existing Freeze Frames to get an idea of what I'm looking for.
Can I get a friend to host my Freeze Frame at their domain?
No. Contributors are required to own their own domain and host the caps within. This is because domain masters are more attune to their bandwith resources and any direct linking that may occur. Hostees may be doing the work of capping and layout creation but they would be "contributing" someone else's bandwith. That seems off to me.
Also, cap sites take up a lot of room and perhaps those sites that are hosted may abuse the kindness of their hosts, even if it is unintentional, and I do not want to be a part of that.
Can I create a site on Image Station? Or a free server?
I do not accept Image Station sites, only because you have to sign up for an account in order to access the gallery. I'm not a snob, I use my Image Station account all the time, to get caps from several sites. However, at Freeze Frame, I'm trying to keep things as streamlined as possible. Make it easy for everyone to collect their fave screecaps.
I also do not accept free servers (geocities, tripod, etc.) because they are unstable. Domains that are paid for are simply more reliable. See the rules.
Can I donate the screencap galleries from my Buffy or Angel site?
I am in awe of anyone who has capped and created a seasons worth, or more, of captured eps. But my vision for Freeze Frame is to have individual screencap sites, with exclusive screencaps, dedicated to each episode. Much like an episode Fanlisting. But you can certainly send me an email, to let me know about your site, and I'll add it to the links area.
What are the requirements?
Quality and quantity. I want an awesome a bunch of caps, for people to choose from, that are fairly large and are clean. (200 is the minimum number) And an easily navigable site is also a must.
I am a little confused. Are you making all the caps, hosting other peoples caps, or just linking to hosting sites for certain caps?
I am a contributor. But Freeze Frame is a network of screencap sites dedicated to each of the Buffy and Angel episodes. It's a bit like The Fanlistings, in that, a webmaster claims a Buffy or Angel episode, caps the episode, creates a site and uploads everything to their domain.
What is the purpose of Freeze Frame?
Myself and the contributors are part of Freeze Frame because we want to share caps so other webmasters and fanartists can use them in layouts and arts. Of course, if screencaps are used, credits and links should be provided.
Will anyone be turned down?
Well, I want to have a collection of the absolutely best screen grabs for each ep. Short answer: If your caps suck, you will be turned down.
If I get multiple applications for the same episode, I will choose the person that seems the best choice to me (i.e. the person with the best looking caps!)
How many Freeze Frames can I run?
As many as you would like, provided the eps you want are available. Please keep in mind the that you are allowed only one month to complete each site. Also, see Rule #17 as you are only allowed one upcoming FF at a time.
